I have a question about the lisk roaster that was made for the chambers oven. What makes it better. I've been cooking my bird in a regular roaster and it comes out great. Just wondering what the difference is. Any input would be great.

    Virginia.

Sorry if this is a dup post. I don't think I hit add new topic first time.

The LISK roasters were made by the LISK Mfg. Co. of New York state for over 75 years.

They were patented as a "Seamless Sanitary Self-basting Roaster". The concave top causes the vaporized juices of the food being cooked to condense and fall back onto the food - hence, the "self-basting" feature.

Because LISK made, perhaps, as many as 1 million roasters over the years, and, therefore, nearly everyone had them, in addition to their superior design and performance (they cook REALLY well!), CHAMBERS designed their oven size to fit the most popular sizes.

Personally, I just LOVE them - they give you the ability, using the vents, to brown the food to one's liking, or keep the juices inside - real asset to retained heat cooking - and, thus, keep the food moist.

I have about 5 different sizes - the BIG one will hold a 25-lb turkey, which the CHAMBERS oven handles well, and cooks PERFECTLY!

These can be had from eBay, garage sales, etc., - just don't pay too much for them!

    Todd,

Thanks for the info. I've passed up many at garage sales because I didn't know anything about them. Just one more question, now that I'm going to be on the lookout for one, besides the top and bottom is there an insert with it? In total how many pieces are there for one roaster?

    Virginia,

There are 3 pieces total. Beyond that, there was some other fun info in a previous thread from early October. Just search for Lisk Roaster.

    Jenn,

Thanks. I looked on ebay and saw a couple. I'm going to go the garage sale route. I've seen them alot, but now that I want one, probably won't find it that easy.

    Jenn,

Found the old thread about lisk roasters. Todd mentioned that the ones made for chambers only had one vent. I wonder why, what did one vent do to make a difference. Todd if you read this, can you explain?

    Thanks,
    Virginia
